What stays on your device

Your saved résumés, application answers, learned custom-question answers, site passwords, application tracker, and chat history are stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device. They are never sold or shared.

About stored site passwords: when you ask Alicia to create an account on a job board or ATS portal, the generated password is saved in Chrome's local extension storage in plain text, without additional encryption. It stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. Anyone with access to your computer and your Chrome profile could read it. If that is not an acceptable trade-off for you, use your own password manager for account-gated applications instead of letting Alicia generate and store one.

What is sent to our servers, and when

When you use an AI feature (chat, match scoring, résumé tailoring, cover letters, interview prep, custom-question answering), the text needed for that feature is sent to our backend (chatwillow.com, hosted on Vercel) and forwarded to AI inference providers solely to generate the response. This can include your message, the job posting's text, and relevant excerpts of your active résumé.

Application questions, including sensitive ones. Some job applications ask questions that touch on sensitive or protected-class topics — for example work authorization, visa or sponsorship requirements, veteran status, disability status, race, or gender. When you use the custom-question answering or autofill assistance features on an application containing such a question, the text of that question, and the answer context needed to respond to it, are sent to our backend and forwarded to an AI provider in the same way as any other feature request. We do not store these answers on our servers, do not use them for advertising, do not sell them, and do not use them to build any profile of you. They are transmitted only to generate the response you asked for.

If you would rather not transmit this category of information at all, answer those specific questions manually rather than using Alicia's assistance on them.

To enforce fair daily usage limits, the backend records an estimate of processing time per account (or per hashed IP address for signed-out use). For LinkedIn Scan & Rank and résumé tailoring specifically, we also record a simple monthly usage count per account — how many times you've used each feature this calendar month — to enforce the free-tier cap. No résumé or job content is stored alongside those counts.

Accounts (optional)

Alicia works without an account. If you sign in for a higher daily allowance, we collect your email address to send a one-time sign-in code (authentication is provided by Supabase). Your session tokens are stored locally in extension storage, and your subscription status (free or Pro) is stored in our database.

Payments

Alicia Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Stripe on Stripe's hosted checkout pages. The extension never sees or stores your card details. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status (not your card details) to know whether your account is on the free or Pro tier; Stripe keeps its own records of the payment and subscription independently of us, governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.

What we don't do

No ads, no analytics trackers, no selling or sharing of personal data, and the extension never submits a job application on your behalf — you always click Submit yourself.

Your control

Sign out at any time from Tools → Account. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data, including any saved site passwords, but does not by itself delete your account or server-side data — contact us at the email below to delete your account. Doing so removes your subscription status, usage counts, and Stripe customer link from our database. Cancelling your Alicia Pro subscription (via the billing portal at chatwillow.com, signed in with the same account, or by contacting us) stops future billing but does not delete your account by itself. Stripe retains its own records of payments and subscriptions per its own retention policy, independent of us.
